Description

Within the expansive service sector, accommodation stands as a crucial domain involving the daily processing of substantial personal data, including sensitive information. GASCA (GDPR Awareness & Compliance in Accommodation Sector), directs its focus to data users within this sector. Various roles, ranging from hotel management to IT, necessitate the handling of personal data GASCA's primary objectives revolve around evaluating compliance levels, data practices, and challenges faced by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the German and Turkish accommodation sectors. This data will inform the development of tailored training courses for data users while providing valuable insights for SMEs, researchers, and policymakers. Project activities encompass comprehensive data protection impact assessment, surveys, and interviews with data users in the accommodation sector. The implementation of pilot courses, both in-person and online, will lead to the creation of openly shared online video courses through GASCA's social media channels. A research report consolidating insights will be disseminated on research platforms and GASCA channels. The GASCA project concludes with the aspiration to not only elevate awareness and compliance levels among SMEs but also to contribute to the overall protection of personal data within the accommodation sector. Through these efforts, GASCA aims to create a more secure and informed environment for data users and residents alike.
